Advanced HIV Disease

GHIG works with partners to bring attention to patients at risk for advanced HIV disease and to help identify them as early as possible supporting Who guidelines and the Package of Care.

WHO released a package of measures to ensure rapid initiation of antiretroviral treatment and diagnosis of opportunistic infections to reduce the still high rates of death in people diagnosed with HIV at a very advanced stage of disease. GHIG will be joining key partners to support the Advanced Disease Guidelines and Package of Care.

GHIG contributed an opinion piece to Devex on how to maintain focus on AHD during the COVID-19 pandemic —

Opinion: Ensuring services for people with advanced HIV disease — more important than ever.

This year, GHIG also partnered with the CDC Foundation and Project ECHO to host a webinar that brought together countries, partners and key stakeholders to discuss how to maintain the AHD package of care in low- and middle-income countries during COVID-19 —
