EMTCT Workshop In Shenzhen China

The EMTCT workshop in China was so highly productive and enjoyable!  The workshop was in Shenzhen, China, 18-19 June.  This meeting would not have been the success it was without the support of our esteemed colleagues at the China National Center for STD Control, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CAMS) Institute of Dermatology, the National Center for Women and Children’s Health, Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and the WHO Collaborating Centre for Prevention and Control of Sexually Transmitted Infections. We would also very much like to thank the Nanshan Maternity and Child Healthcare Hospital for the local support and lovely reception.

With this meeting, we were able to bring together key partners from WHO, UNICEF, and WPRO, as well as ministry of health participants from the WPRO region, to share experiences with the elimination of mother-to-child transmission (EMTCT) of HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis B. We now have a better understanding for how we can increase the uptake of prenatal screening and the importance of quality diagnostic testing.
